In the village of Brestovc, which is 5 km south of the town of Rahovec, there stood an old mosque presumed to have been one of the oldest mosques in the Municipality of Rahovec. Based on the oral accounts of the villagers and the literature researched, the oldest traces of the mosque dated from the 16th century. The mosque is in the centre of the village on the eastern side of the Krushë e Madhe – Rahovec road. It was set on a dominant terrain, on a hill, very close to the village cemetery.
Unfortunately, during the last war (1998-1999) the mosque was burned and destroyed by Serbian forces. Of its original structure only the minaret has remained, as the rest of the building could not withstand it. The minaret of the mosque was built of local, porous stone, bound with lime mortar. The body was re-plastered with continuous mortar. The lower part of the minaret's gallery (sherefe) is decorated with profiles of various geometric forms. The upper part of the gallery and the roof of the minaret (kylhan) were rebuilt in 1999, after the end of the war.
The base of the minaret is polygonal, forming the shape of the letter U, and the minaret itself is also polygonal in form. The sherefe is reached by a spiral staircase made of stone.
In the cemetery, alongside the new graves, there are also some old graves, which are presumed to coincide with the period when the mosque was built. The minaret continues to stand and to be evidence of the cultural heritage and more recent history of the country, being part of the list of heritage under state protection.
