The house of Mustafa Jusuf Kadriu, before its demolition, with its front facade oriented to the southeast, was located in the center of Rahovec, opposite the Halveti tekke. Within the house was a courtyard surrounded by several new houses.
The house was built in the 19th century, namely in 1893, and throughout its existence it served as a dwelling. It was built on flat terrain, with a rectangular plan, on two levels, ground floor and upper floor.
The foundations were built of local stone. The walls of the ground floor and the load-bearing walls of the upper floor were built of local stone and qerpiç (adobe), bound with mud mortar. The horizontal reinforcement of the walls was done with wooden beams, hatullas. The partition walls of the upper floor were made of wooden framework filled with adobe and plastered with mud mortar (bondruk system). The surface of the interior walls was plastered and whitewashed. The thickness of the structural walls was ~75 cm, while the partition walls were 15-20 cm..
The mid-floor and roof structures were made of wooden beams. The roof was hipped, covered with half-round “Mediterranean” tiles. The doors and windows were original to the period, made of wood. The ceilings of the rooms were made of wood, in the “shishe tavan” form.
The building in question was among the rare residential buildings with high values of local vernacular architecture in Rahovec. But unfortunately the house was completely demolished in 2015 by the owner of the house himself, so it no longer exists today.
